Kansas City Aviation Department Launches Enhanced Web & New Mobile Sites
Instant Access to Flight Status, Parking & Online Booking
KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 25, 2011 – The Kansas City Aviation Department today unveiled its enhanced website and new mobile site to accommodate the ever changing ways consumers get information. The newly designed website, www.flykci.com, offers instant access to flight arrivals and departures and flight bookings on the home page, detailed parking information, directions and parking rewards program information. It also offers interactive maps of Kansas City International Airport (KCI) terminals to locate gates and review airport services and amenities.
Mobile phone and tablet computer users can also log onto the new KCI mobile site at www.flykci.com. This state-of-the-art airport interface offers instant access to flight status, parking, driving directions, airline information, terminal amenities, ground transportation and security tips.
“We focused on offering our customers the most advanced web and mobile sites in the airline industry to enhance the customer experience of accessing the core website information on a mobile device, “ stated Joe McBride, Marketing and Communications Manager. “Our data showed that mobile users are family members and business travelers who want quick access to information both on their mobile device and on their desktop computer.”
Kuhn & Wittenborn Advertising of Kansas City, Mo., partnered with Digital Evolution Group of Overland Park, Kan. to design both the updated website and new mobile site. During their engagement process their research analytics revealed that the top page interfaces for our sites are 1) checking on flight status, 2) looking for parking options and availability and 3) accessing directions and airport services.
“Working with the Aviation Department has been an exciting process because they really want to create a web and mobile site experience that gives customers the information they need as simply as possible,” said Whitey Kuhn, president, chief executive officer of Kuhn & Wittenborn. “Our focus was to develop the functionality of each platform, thinking about the customer experience at all times. Our work is about helping KCI be the most traveler-friendly in the country.”
“Life is now about quick access to important information on multiple platforms,” said Neal Sharma, CEO, Digital Evolution Group. “The collaboration we had with the Department of Aviation made all the difference in the successful outcome of our work on the web and mobile sites. With this launch, KCI will be hard to beat as a leader in mobile and web interface communication within the airline industry.”
The new www.flykci.com website includes several innovative features, including:
“Find A Flight,” a comprehensive web page offering travelers complete information for their specific trip. The interface provides personalized flight status, gate and terminal locations, security checkpoint wait times, real-time parking availability, and weather conditions and flight delay information in both Kansas City and destination cities.
“Book A Flight,” which enables travelers to search for and book flights from KCI using the popular travel website and search engine, Kayak.
“KCI Email Alerts”. Users can sign up on the home page to receive flight information, travel deals and airport news sent directly to their email, Facebook and Twitter accounts, on travelers’ personal computers, cell phones or PDA’s for themselves, their friends, relatives or business colleagues.
“Freshmakers” – home page banner with the latest promotions, airline/carrier specials and mobile interface information.
